Introduction

Federico R. Justiniani is an internist physician who has developed a second career as a professional photographer.  He has traveled extensively and captured many images, including nature and landscapes, doors, windows and architecture, as well as a collection of portraits from around the world, many of them depicting occupations.  His work has been shown at:

  • The Americas Collection Gallery in Coral Gables, Florida, "Photography Plus", December 2004.
  • Books & Books of Coral Gables, "Doors and Windows: The Mystery Behind", August 2005.
  • The Gilded Hand, Coral Gables, "The Faces of the World", June 2006.
  • Annual National Meeting of the American College of Physicians in Philadelphia, PA "Internists as Artists": two windows from Mexico, April 2006.
  • The Tower Theater, Miami, "Artistic Photography", April 17-27, 2008

Two of his photographs have been published in The New England Journal of Medicine, a door from Tuscany, Italy and a landscape from Patagonia, Argentina, in June 2006 and December 2005 respectively.

His portrait "Suspicious", shown below, was published in the cover of Annals of Internal Medicine on October 21, 2008. This image was selected by a panel of 6 judges, as the best photograph published in the cover of this medical journal during the year 2008.
